Stats, Bulky Stats, Heavy Stats, Tonnes of Stats
->
As you must have guessed that I’ve been hit by the heavy databases, containing nothing important but stats, yes stat logs, collected through my sites over the period of time, and with them the ever increasing spam, that inflates up your db sizes and your hosting costs without a hint. On my Joomla sites I was using a component named BSQ Sitestats, if you’ve ever used Joomla for any of your site, I doubt that you are unaware of this amazing plugin. But there is a kick, it’s so good, but end of the day it’s a traffic statistic thingie, means it’s made to collect stats, and in ruling era it explodes your database sizes, mine have gone up to like quarter gigs already, so I decided to move on, yes move on to an external web service that gives me traffic stats without hitting me with hosting bills. I was aware only of two such services, that I could trust, 1st the ever lovable StatCounter, and the second Google’s Analytics. I chose the latter, reason? Google I trust, and I’m already using many of their services, and I really adore them, except BadDonut Kid Orkut ofcourse. So far, analytics has been good to me, you give the url, you make a few clicks, it gives you the code, you place the code in your template, just like in BSQ sitestats, and the best thing about analytics for me, is that it lets me see stats for all my sites with one login. YEY \:D/ , now I don’t have to login through backends of my gazillion sites, to see their traffic stats. I know I’ve been too late, but better late then never, :D .
