Google did a major update to Orkut last week by adding Facebook ‘inspired’ applications to it, amongst other features like the one I really had to had to enable, it’s the low bandwidth version of Orkut. No, I’m not on dial-up, I’m on a good to go 384kbps line with no data caps, that’s enough for me, but saving bandwidth isn’t my real interest here, it’s the clean job.
Orkut Low Bandwidth Version is so clutter free, it shows the user’s photo, and that’s all, and everything else has been ‘textuated’. Thank God Google came up with this. Also scrapbooks now have a image-holder instead of the scraper’s picture.
To turn this version on, login to your Orkut account, and goto settings, there under the low bandwidth sub-item, select “show the low bandwidth version of Orkut” and then click on ‘save changes’. Additionally you can check “do not prompt me if my network bandwidth changes”, so as to avoid the bugging notification from Orkut that your bandwidth has changed and you can return to the high bandwidth version, that you don’t want to :P.
