No, I’m not on dial-up, I’m on a good to go 384kbps line with no data caps, that’s enough for me, but saving bandwidth isn’t my real interest here, it’s the clean job.
Orkut Low Bandwidth Version is so clutter free, it shows the user’s photo, and that’s all, and everything else has been ‘textuated’. Thank God Google came up with this. Also scrapbooks now have a image-holder instead of the scraper’s picture.

To turn this version on, login to your Orkut account, and goto settings, there under the low bandwidth sub-item, select “show the low bandwidth version of Orkut” and then click on ‘save changes’. Additionally you can check “do not prompt me if my network bandwidth changes”, so as to avoid the bugging notification from Orkut that your bandwidth has changed and you can return to the high bandwidth version, that you don’t want to :P.

Users of the Google custom search engine can add Google search capabilities to their web sites. Roberto Solimene, Google’s European enterprise director said that, “”For many organizations, a Web site is their window to the world and significant investment goes into attracting customers to the site”. Both the Custom Search Engine free edition and business edition provide hosted search capabilities, obviating the need for installed appliances. Admins can monitor usage behavior through the reports generated by these.

However, its business edition includes features of email and phone support. It also depends on us whether we choose the option of advertising or not. Using an XML application programming interface helps in getting fully customized results.

Even though Google has filters to find out click fraud, accidentally clicking on an ad region may prove less harmful but its very hard to check the accurate reason of wasting dollars in advertising. Now, both Google as well as Yahoo are ready for an Independent Audit as last year both suffered from click fraud. $90 million was also paid by Google for a settlement. It’s just a small part of any earning from fraud.

The bandwagon of Google Gears was started with the release of a version for Google Reader, making it usable in what we call “not so well connected to internet” zones.

MS releases its Online health records system named HealthVault on Beta, a free online repository. Now you can dump all your health reports and your doctors’ records online free. Sources revealed that Google was set to launch a similar system which got delayed due to the death of its leader Adam Bosworth.

On HealthVault you can record your health history and can save all your reports, prescriptions, treatment history. This data can be directly downloaded from your doctors, hospitals, labs, prescription drug plans, etc. Data could also be typed or uploaded from devices even on glucose monitoring devices or blood pressure monitors. The system works on providing password based access and the only concern would be maintaining full patient privacy. Its very useful as full records are maintained at one place and doctors can take close look at the symptoms.

The big G has built an email client for Gmail, that’s going to use the Google Gears plugin (remember Google Reader?). It’s currently under closed testing according to a report by Hindustan Times.

I must say it’s a brave move by Google, considering that in this DSL age, when every one is moving to the Web as an Operating System, Google is doing otherwise by making desktop versions of it’s web apps.

This is just another step by Google to slowly counter the industry standard in daily office computing i.e. Microsoft’s Office.

Let’s wait and watch if it has the import functionality from the biggest mail clients right now, viz. Thunderbird and Outlook Express.

Good news guys, big daddy Google has showered us Adsensers with another present this summer, after the referral 2.0 arsenal. It’s the adsense for mobiles, adding to the already list of adsense options, like adsense for content, adsense for referrals, adsense for search, adsense for rss, adsense for parked domains, and recently adsense for referral 2.0. Adsense publishers are just going to love it more, considering that there are more than 3 billion mobiles all over the globe. However, adsense for mobile is only out to certain selected publishers so far for their mobile platform optimized sites. The supported markup languages so far are WML, XHTML and CHTML.
