If you are a rapidshare downloader you must have felt like annoyed by the gigantic waits before two downloads, in hours these days. I’ve an easy way round the issue, if you are on Airtel or on any other Broadband that has a dynamic IP scheme. If you are not aware what a dynamic IP is, it’s just a new ip everytime you turn your modem/router on, and that’s how you check if you have it or not. Just goto whatismyip.com and note your IP, then shut off your router and turn it on again, and if you get a new IP, you’re on Dynamic IP and this post is just for you.

So, just download from your 1st link and as soon as you’re done, shut off your router, and start it again after 10 seconds, and open your second link, and voila, no waits, just enter the code from captcha and hit the download button.

I’m not a phone person, I’m an online person, but I hate pesky telemarketing calls, and thankfully I don’t get them on Airtel now. But, past few days they have been sending quite a few text messages about their promotions. From Hello Tunes to Ringtones Maharaja. They’re ugly, more ugly of Airtel to send them, I don’t mind if they shove ‘em in with the current balance dialogue, I guess that’s fine.

I know I can turn this messages off by registering on their site, but to my surprise this feature is non operational on their site. They show filthy programming errors whenever I try to work it out with the bad UI on their site.

The parameter is incorrect.
Description: An unhandled exception occurred during the execution of the current web request. Please review the stack trace for more information about the error and where it originated in the code.
Exception Details: System.ArgumentException: The parameter is incorrect.

I wish I could do it through my phone itself, without killing my time with the CC guys. I feel terribly insulted having a wits war with them. So just in case you know an SMS way, let me know. :)

Update

I’ve found an sms way to do that, and it’s ‘DND’ to 170 from your airtel mobile.

Ok, I don’t know about other airtel broadband users, but I’m fed up of the fact that this connection dies when i’m not using it, or downing some torrent stuff (linux distros ;)). But there is a workaround for it, yes, flushdns.

Windows Key + R

CMD
Ipconfig/flushdns
and within seconds, your connection returns back to base. But isn’t this a bit to much to do for people who use the internet for like hours, yes it is atleast for me, so after a quick google, what i’ve found is that like always a cmd file creation and creating a shortcut to it and placing that shortcut into your start menu, voila, dns problem is no problem, now. :) Here is the code for the cmd file
c: cd\ipconfig /release ipconfig /renew exit
Just open your notepad and copy paste this code, and save the file anywhere with a .cmd extension, and create a shortcut for it anywhere you feel comfy at, I did it in the shortcut menu. You can also down this file, I’ve created for the same.
